In reading archives, some mention a bracket designed to hold the filter cover from dropping. I called Newmar this AM to ask about about this bracket and tech knew nothing - not even what was being done on new production. Does any one know what is current build and/or whether a bracket was designed and available ???

ecker, when they replace the filter cover they're adding about a 12 inch straight piece of aluminum with a lip, to hold the edge of the cover...Not sure who you're dealing with, but Carl and Jeff in high line are VERY familiar with this as they're the ones that sent me my replacement for the Essex.
My advice as well would be to LOSE those STUPID knobs and replace them with long bolts, washers and nuts....After replacing mine I never had an issue and I was JUST on the phone with the new owner of my old Essex and he hasn't had an issue either.

I did something similar after first one failed and have driven maybe 10,000 miles without problems. However, I was doing a close inspection and noted that at all most every square corner as very fine cracks starting to show. I had wondered on original cover why small patches of material (2"square) were gone with no real connection to bolt holes. It appears to me now that these pieces break out from mold stress corners probably from vibration. I thought I might try to dampen material by using a foam backing and support it from bottom as well. Poor material choice for application.

My solution is the same as Bob's. SST cap screws, lockwashers and fender washers. I installed over a year ago, works great! The knob the factory uses is press fit over the screws and comes right off.

Hi! That is how our coach came from the factory. No problems at all so far. Paul
