Finally got New Sleeper Sofa and Recliner in Ultra Leather.

I was one of the unlucky ones with bad furniture, peeling everywhere. Newmar did agree to go 50/50 with me since I was way out of warranty, but that cost was more like paying full retail and then some instead of purchasing actual "UltraLeather" furniture from Glastop Marine & RV Furniture in Pompano Beach, FL. I replaced my Sleeper sofa on the passenger side with a custom, Slotted Sofa that fits the 5" hump covering the slide motor, etc. Also my recliner done in actual UltraLeather. I also ordered 12 yards of the same UltraLeather to redo both Captains chairs as well as an Ottoman.

Before and after pictures of furniture replaced and the actual Bill. Hopefully someone may find this useful if they are in the same position and want a true quality covering of UltraLeather.

It looks great. I’m considering ordering some ultraleather and having a local upholstery shop recover the armrests on my driver’s side captain chair. Where/how can I determine which ultraleather to order?

Thanks.

Well if you have the peeling issue, then your old armrests are NOT ultraleather. You will have to try to match color/pattern by eye looking at samples.

Glastop will send you samples of fabric if you ask them.

If it were me, seeing as how your armrests are peeling, the rest of the chair will not be far behind…..you might want to consider having the entire seat redone….then you don’t have to try to match color exactly.

You might also try Lisa Bauer (below)

Mine looks more like wear than peeling, but I’ll post a photo the next time I’m in the rig.

Looks nice. The "L" shaped sofa in our 2014 DS was very uncomfortable. The new sofa looks much better.

Ultra Leather?

I have contended all along that Ultraleather should not be call leather at all, because it's faux leather. It is Polyurethane that is designed to look and feel like leather, but it doesn't perform anywhere near it. If I wanted to keep the furniture for a long time, I would install genuine leather. Having said that, not all Ultraleather are equal either. I know what it used in marine products, generally is a higher grade fabric. Newmar only uses genuine leather in the King Aire and that has only been for the past 2 years.

Ultra Leather, either the 400,000 rub or the 300,000 rub are the best in Faux Leather. There are pros and cons to each, real leather and faux leather, especially if you have dogs that are allowed on the furniture. Not a good choice if you have real leather. My coach is a 15 Dutch Star, not a King Aire and quite frankly, if someone is not comfortable unless their sitting on real leather, I'm sure they could always buy leather pants to bring along.

Most auto manufactures shy away from using real leather as an option, most are now faux leather.

You can say that again... maybe cramping in 3 people and possible sleeping one or two kids. It was never a real functional sofa for us. This new sofa is extremely comfortable and the queen bed is also very thick and comfortable.

I'll be attaching pics on how it looks opened up.

Just got my Captains chairs back and installed them today

Just got my Captains chairs back and installed them today. It took less than 6 yards each from Auto Interiors by John O, so I have about a yard left from the 12 yard roll and 5 yards from the new roll I purchased just in case. Overall it cost me about $3,200 to have them done including the Ultra Leather I purchased.
