First weigh - oddities?

We stopped at a truck stop and got our first axle weigh this morning. I KNOW I had my three axels positioned correctly on three different tables but the results look a bit odd to me.

The TAG axle is 2000 pounds over the GVWR. (Specs are 14,000, 20,000, 10,000)

See attached picture.

Looks as if you need Freightliner to adjust the balance between the drive and tag axles. You should have 19 on the drive and 9 on the tag. Reminds me that I need to check mine.

How do they adjust that balance? Why isn't it correct from the get go?

The coach is only two months old. I can't imagine how anything I have on board would put additional weight onto the TAG.

I'm new to TAG axles. I was expecting to be WAY under GVWR on all axels.

Did you have a car behind you? Because it's weight will be on with the tag.

The adjuster for the tag is mounted on the passenger inside frame rail between the rear axles. At the very top.

If no toad, you're loaded heavy. Ours is at 44,000 fully loaded for work, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee on the back. That is with fuel and fresh water tanks full as well.

We did have a Jeep Wrangler unlimited toad attached. Toad was NOT on the weight table for the TAG.

Full fuel and full water (on purpose to get a max load measurement).

Before you change anything, reweigh without toad.

Even though the toad was on a separate pad, Cat scales lump it in on the tag. I have been through this myself. That is why you don't have a fourth weight.

We are 4,000 lbs under you and the GVWR. Just puzzled why so much weight is on the TAG. EVERY discussion of 40' TAG's here always states that you can't possibly use the CCC capacity of 11,900. Somehow we've managed to exceed the TAG and there really is no way to put weight behind the drive axle. There are no storage compartments aft of the drive axle.

Good suggestion. Will try that on the way home this weekend at the same scales.

Well spotted PDR. I had assumed that anyone trying to weigh the tag would know not to have the toad attached. Taking 3500 lbs off the listed weight would make the axles about what they should be.

If I recall correctly all pads after the first 3 are trailer pads.

Because coaches skip the second pad and put the drive axle on pad 3, the tag and toad get listed as trailer together.

Every time we weighed our previous MH's (non TAG) on these same scales, we got a separate weight for the TOAD. I WAS expecting to see four weights. I made a point of positioning the steer, drive, tag and toad on four separate tables.

Are you guys saying that CAT scales give three weighs and always combine the last two tables together?

Just to clarify what I think I have read...

You had the jeep on the same pad as your tag? If so...YEP...that will end this thread. LOL

Google says your curb weight is 4521# give or take extras. That would put you at a tad over 7500# on the tag wheels. DONE!
