Fixed the self-inflicted scratches on my dining table

Since I work from my RV 50% of my trips, I use my pullout dining table as my desk. I typically have two monitors set up, laptop, a keyboard and a mouse. When I first got my RV, I used the mouse directly on the table top surface. By the time I realized that I was damaging the table top surface it was too late. 2 years later, I decided to try to fix it. Here's the before and after. I used the Meguire's Headlight Restoration Kit, but only used the polish. It took about 30 minutes of buffing, but I got all the scratches out.

Nice job, did you hand buff or power buff? Oops, never mind, I see the power buffer...

There are several ways to remove scratches in the Corian table and counter tops, What I've done in the past is to take 2000 grit sand paper on a block and wet sand out the bad spots. I then use Gel Gloss and using an adjustable speed rotary buffer and wool pad. I then buff out the entire top. Gel Gloss is recommended by all the companies who sell Corian or similar material and those who make bathroom counter tops using cultured marble. There are two ways to buy Gel Gloss, one is in a spray can and can be used when every you want to clean the top's and it's also sold as a liquid in a metal can. Home Depot is where I buy Gel Gloss. I've also found that if I make a "dam" using old towels it prevents the buffer from flinging the Gel Gloss as the buffing wheel turns.

I wouldn't think the plastic, nylon and teflon on the bottom of a computer mouse would hurt Corian. Good to know.
