Flat tow 2019 Ford Expedition platinum

I tow a 2019 Expedition Limited and do not disconnect anything. I do have a charge line from the Coach and use that to power the brake relay and to charge the Expedition battery (the brake relay is so the AF1 use of the Ford brakes doesnít illuminate the brakes all the time when the coach is alternating one tail light for turn signal).

Trust the manual that is model specific written by Ford. The tech may be thinking of some other year or some other brand. Ask them to show you what they read since it conflicts with your manual.

I flat tow a 2014 Explorer. At first I installed a fused line from the MH to the toad. After doing so, I was concerned that if there was a problem with the MH charge system it would drain the toad battery and I would be stuck on the side of the road with 2 dead vehicles. Purchased a "Toad Battery Charger" from RVI and have not had any problems keeping the toad battery fully charged.

I had a similar concern so I installed some Roadmaster diodes to ensure current went one way in the charge line.

We tow a 19 Navigator, so I'm not sure they are the same. I also have a charge line from the coach. One concern I have, according to what I've read in the manual, is if the battery dies, the vehicle goes into park. That could be disastrous.

I think Navigator / Expedition are identical in this arena. I also added a small LED powered by the charge line so I know that is doing its thing; and part of our written checklist is to snap a picture of the "Neutral Tow Enabled" banner on the dash display with the RV in view. That ensures we really got it right before we left.

One other question especially to those with 2019íhaving some issues getting answers from ford on this. How do u know if your 4x4 is flat towable seems to need a 2 speed transfer switch and no one so far can confirm thatís what I have. Waiting to hear back, they confirmed in writing before I bought the vehicle that it could be towed but I have seen info contradicting that. Thanks

The '19 Expedition offered the 2 speed transfer case required for flat-towing in the Heavy Duty Towing package. If you look at the brochure (https://www.ford.com/services/assets...tion&year=2019 at the end in the XLT description - I copied it at the end of this post) it has it in the fine print that this is the package providing a 2 speed transfer case.

If you have the window sticker it will list the options packages, if not you can ask your dealer to run your VIN and see what the factory options were.

'19 Ford Expedition brochure:
Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package: heavy- duty radiator, Pro Trailer Backup Assist,TM 3.73 electronic limited-slip rear differential (eLSD), integrated trailer brake controller, and 2-speed automatic 4WD (4x4 only) with Neutral towing capability.
