freestanding bicycle stands

Hello,

We are looking for ideas (pros/cons) related to portable bicycle stands which are light-weight, compact, durable outdoors, and stable in winds. Our bikes have kickstands and are covered but topple over when gusts of wind come up. Many thanks,

We use a swagman one like this that comes apart so we can store it easily. The pieces come apart so you can add as many or as few bike slots as you need. You just need to buy another set. Is that what you mean?

Exactly and thank you! I saw that one online, but didn't know if the vertical 'V's pulled out for storage. My follow-on questions are do you put the front wheel or back wheel in and is the stand fairly sturdy in windy situations as we keep the bikes covered when not in regular use. ...12 months until retirement and then on the road we go to to seasonally better climate.

This post is timely for us as well.

We want to get bikes for the RV and this sounds like a stand that we cod take with us. Any thoughts on which bikes are best for carrying on the RV or a suggestion for a rack to cary them on?

I am retiring June 3rd and hitting the road!

Thanks,
Ted

Good for you on your soon retirement Ted! We'll be 10 months behind you. We've had our bikes for a couple decades. We modified the handlebars/seat/wider tires on our lightweight 10-speeds and enjoy leisure riding w/ easy peddling. There's a wide range of choices depending on your cycling style - even folding ones for keeping in your storage bay. We tow our car, so have purchased the Roadmaster 4" dual hitch, lower receiver for the car and upper receiver for the Swagman XC bike carrier (good reviews and easy bike mounting). We had the Swagman 3 bike standard rack on our previous coach. Very happy with the product quality.
