Fridge outlet

Looking for some thoughts, my outlet for my fridge in now only wanting to work off shore power or my gen? The outlet is dead when Iím trying to run off my inverter. Everything else seems to be working as it should off the inverter . When trying to switch to LP the igniter clicks twice then stops and wonít light, pulling my hair out lol
Thanks in advance

Check circuit breakers on the inverter and the breakers feeding the inverter.

Breaker panel is likely wired not to run frig on inverter - only shore power, gen or LP. If you haven't used LP on frig for awhile, you may need to reset frig several times to purge air from LP line. Usually takes me three resets after pulling rig from storage.

Hi Etch1,
Welcome to the Newmar Owners Forum. Dumb question, did the outlet ever have power from the inverter? I ask because for an 06 coach and your reference that the refer also runs on propane make me believe the appliance has no power from the inverter.

As to the lack of starting on propane, when was the last time the fridge ran on propane? Again, dumb comment but, make sure you have propane in the tank and the valve is open. If trying cycling several times does not work, consider a routine propane servicing of the appliance.

A factory installed gas/electric fridge will not have power to the outlet from the inverter.

If you were dry camping and watching TV for 3 to 4 hours, the fridge would be running on inverter, drawing 40 amps from the batteries.

You do need the 12 volt system working to use the fridge on gas or electric.

Welcome to the forum.
You should have fridge in AUTO Mode so switch's over to LP gas with no 110 service. Didn't say what fridge you have but this link will give you the two they maybe.
There are two outlets possibly behind the fridge a 110 outlet from the load center and a 110 outlet from a inverter for the ice maker when fridge on LP gas.
Here is another link you will be needing and all links below in my signature have some answers also.

Don't know about yours, but my refrig outlet is a duplex, and only one side is wired to the inverter.

Inverter rewired to run Fridge

I just rewired my coach for the new residential fridge to run on the inverter.

Here is how the system works.
The AC breaker box is split, one side runs big draw items NOT designated to run on the inverter. Usually it is the air Conditioner Water heater, refrigerator and Charger. The other side is powered by the Inverter and runs things like the Microwave and outlet misc plugs. The reason why the fridge is not on the inverter side is because the Norcold will auto switch AC to LP when power is not present. If you plug in to RV park the inverter is bypassed.

So if you still want to run the fridge on the inverter it can be rewired, hears how. First see how your breaker panel is split. I actually had an extra break slot so it was real easy. If you do not have a extra break slot then you can take a standard wide single switch breaker out and replace it with a dual switch. Basically move the fridge wire to the other new breaker. Don't forget to move the white wire to the other bus bar, very important.

Now you will have to use the breaker switch to force off the fridge to run on LP if your using the inverter for other items. Just know the start current of the fridge can be as high as 12 amps so figure that into your load and operations. Most 2000 watt inverters will handle the surge and one more high current load.

I installed a 800 W inverter next to the RV battery and run an extension cord to the residential refrig on travel days.

I didn't think a gas/electric fridge had any kind of high startup current.

Startup surge is a concern with compressor fridges. Gas/Electric use a heater coil.

Correction

Twinboat
You are correct the Norcold does not have a high start current, no compressor motor.

The residential refrigerators do.

Our 2004 MADP has two outlets in the refrigerator cabinet. One is not connected to the inverter, the other one is.
