From Bay Star Sport to a Ventana LE

I've been exploring the possibility of upgrading to a new coach for a few months. Our very first foray into the RV world was a new 2016 Bay Star Sport. Thinking it as a "trial" unit to see if we would even like the lifestyle. The main purpose was for winter escapes. We've made trips to Texas and Arizona. We love the mobility, the freedom, the desert boondocking and seeing what we've not seen before. We like it. Need a bit more room while camped and a bit more drivability while moving.

I was shopping for a Canyon Star. Lower cost and expenses than a diesel, but heavier and seemingly not so twitchy on the road as my small Sport.

I called MidwayRV. They are only 50 miles away, a tremendous dealership and our first choice. I talked with our salesman from a few years ago, Kyle. Still the same pleasant man with seemingly infinite patience for all my detailed questions. He had the time, so we made the drive there.

We looked at a used Ventana 4369 first, then a new Canyon Star. All the while, there was another customer finalizing their new Dutch Star purchase. They we trading in a 17 Ventana LE.

By now, Kyle learned what we were really wanting: Opposing slides in the living room, 2 recliner seating directly in front of the main TV, 1 & 1/2 baths would be great as well as a king bed.

Kyle excused himself for a moment. Came back confirming what he had thought: that trade-in Ventana LE hit all the desired choices of ours. The owners have not even begun transferring their possessions and we were lurking.

Ultimately, we could not resist fate. The next day we drove back to MidwayRV, looked at the unit, took it for a drive and was hooked.

We came to an agreement and we will be the next owners of that 2017 Ventana LE 4037. We're still in disbelief but excited. Should get the unit by mid September.

It seems like RV shopping goes like this:
1) Set a budget,
2) Research floorplans and features,
3) Go see the units,
4) Fall in love with one,
5) Multiply step 1 (budget) by 2 or 3 times,
6) Buy the unit of your choice.

Now, our winter AZ reservations might be in jeopardy due to the additional size. Oh no!

Fate...ya just gotta believe in it!

Welcome to the 4037 club!
OK. Even if it's not really an official club we just got ours a few months ago and absolutely love the floorplan.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It was a great coach for us.

Congrats!! We had a Baystar and went to the dealer to trade for a Ventana. Left with a Dutch Star. It's a sickness.

Quite a difference on the road between a gasser and a diesel. You will love it!

We went thru the same basic procedure this spring in our purchase of a Mountain Aire. The wait, once the decision is made, is the hard part as I wanted to take the (new to us Mountain Aire) home that same day. Not so fast Grasshopper!

The paint on this was a special order. Paint codes are on the inside of the kitchen cabinet

Too funny -- and so true!

We also almost experienced your potential problem of already having made reservatons for a RV park and site you really like -- only to buy a "new" RV that won't fit.

We came within a foot of that situation ourselves. When we made our reservations (a year in advance 'cuz that's what you have to do), we mentioned that we'd be buying a larger RV. The park owner laughingly said, I sure hope it's under 40 ft. I can't take another RV over 40 ft.

After buying our "new" RV we called and let them know the new one was 37 ft. He laughed and said, we barely made it. One more foot and he couldn't have taken us without somebody else cancelling.

I’m chuckling at myself! [emoji38] We are heading out to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Made the reservation 6 months ago. Have the primo spot right against the canyon. Can only handle 35’ comfortably. Hence we did not pull the trigger on a slightly used Ventana before we left. If it’s still available when we get back, great. If not, maybe a 2019 in our future[emoji41]
