Dave....mine was doing exactly the same thing. If you extend the awning about 2', you'll see an adjustment at the rear of the awning (inside the awning box) that adjusts the tension. If you have two awnings, the adjustment is at the front of the rear awning. In your box of brochures, there should be a black plastic tool, that looks like a coffee stirrer, but is an allen wrench.
You'll need a ladder to reach the adjuster. Insert the allen wrench and try turning it clockwise about an 1/8 of a turn. Run the awning back in and see if it closes. If there is improvement turn the adjustment another 1/8 turn. You may have to try turning it the opposite direction if nothing happens. The two adjusters, front awning and rear awning, even though they are next to each other, turn different directions.
My rear awning was sticking out evenly and I made the adjustment and it went in like it should. My front was just like yours, in at the rear and sticking out about 1.5" - 2" at the front. I made the adjustment, but I never got it in all the way. We live near the factory, so we took it to them. The tech got on the ladder and adjusted the tension adjuster, just like I did nd in it went. He said I didn't adjust it enough.
Read page 25 and 26 of the Nova Manual, it explains the adjustment....

NOTE:....If you make adjustments and rapidly run the awnings in and out several times, you can get them to overheat and shut down. If the do, you need to wait about 45 minutes to allow it to reset.
Lastly, you can hear the motors running when the awnings are deploying. If you over adjust the tensioner, the awning motor will continue to run, after the awning is closed. If you hear this happening, back off the adjuster (not a common thing).
