Front Door Holding Mechanism

Today while loading stuff into the 98 Dutch Star My door stopped staying Open on it's own. There has always been a latching mechanism holding the Door in the open position. Now it just flops!

The weather has turned really Cold here so maybe something has decided to freeze up.

Anyone had this problem or have any suggestions?

I think what Rob is talking about is when the little "hook" breaks off the arm which holds the door open (it actually grabs the "male" coupling on the top of the door): it's happened to me 3 times, and my only way to fix it is to take it in and have the part replaced!

I dont' know if I have a problem or not. On my previous motorhome (2000 DSDP), the door would latch into an "opened" position and you would have to life the door handle to release the door and close it. The 2007 Mountain Aire does not do this and I miss that feature. I just assumed that it does not latch in an "opened" position. Is that correct?

Sorry LABergo - the 07 MADP door does latch open. At the top of the door is a hinge arm that attaches the door to the coach. At the swivel of that hinge is a tab that when the door is fully opened falls into a detente & holds the door open.

The tab routinely breaks off and the only way to fix it is a) replace the hinge arm 2) use a bungee cord to hold the door open.

Thanks Mark, that is what I figured. It was a nice feature on my 2000 DS. But, the 07 MA has a lot of nice features that I really like also. I am very happy with it.
