front generator cover stuck
I have a 1999 Dutch Star, the front hood I guess you would call it, in front of the generator will not release, I don't want to force the pull handle until it brakes but what choice do I have? It isn't frozen from lack of use since last week it worked just fine....any help out there?

I had the same problem, but I just closed my eyes and pulled hard on the cable release lever and it finally opened. I then applied silicone spray to the mechanism and that helped a lot. Good luck!

I used to have the same problem and used to use silicone. The silicone only lasted a few days so I tried white lithium grease. It worked so well, I now use it on the door and it works great, my DW used to break a nail every time she tried to open the door, now it flys open!

I have read about the cable breaking, so when ever mine gets a little hard to open, I have my wife push against the door while I pull the handle. That has always helped. When I remember to use silicon spray on the release mechanism and in the cable, it works real easy.

Thanks everyone, closed my eyes and gave a big yank and it came free, I was afraid of breaking the cable which would be a real mess. I will lube the whole thing good before I close it this time...

Same problem here. I first adjusted the latch and it worked great until I slammed the lid a few times... then back to hard to open. If I dont have someone to push on the lid when I pull the handle, I pull it and then go out a push on the lid and pull it open. That has been working the last few times, but I'm going to try the lub process and see if that helps.

I never use the pull handle, I just reach up with fingers through hood slot and find wire for release latch. Pull down on wire and release. Works every time for me, they never have reinforced the pull handle on dash in three coach's I have had.
