Front seat wear

We have 2015 Ventana and have notice the material on our seats coming apart. Has anyone else experienced this in their Newmar’s?Click image for larger version

Yes ., I complained to Newmar on our 2011. They agreed to split the cost of new covers with me. Local shop wanted like $400 to install so, I installed the new covers myself. (was easier than I expected to be). you will need a set of hog ring pliers, from tractor supply..

We had a similar issue with tour 2015 DS. Newmar took care of the problem by recovering the front seats.

As a point of reference, Newmar offered 50% off of their retail price for my 2 captain chairs which would have put the cost at ~ $1250 using the standard faux material. Flexsteel direct price was $832 with the upgraded (real) Ultraleather

My seats actually look worse than yours. Newmar has offered to fix them. Send photo's to Customer Service and ask what they can do for you.

My 2015 Dutch Star upholstery looked similar to yours. I had heard that Newmar was replacing the entire interior on the 2015 DSDP due to some defective upholstery material. I sent some pics to customer service and they sent out new seat covers, Euro booth, sofa bed and rocker to my local dealer. All replaced for free in about 1.5 days.

The only downside is the new material doesn't have that soft buttery feel the original did. The new feels very stiff and cheap.

I too had a 15 Ventana 4369 with the same seats and piping. While in Nappanee for service, one of the Technicians working on our unit told us that Newmar realized they had a problem with the leather but they still “insisted” that FlexSteel use that material on the seats, even after FlexSteel told them it was too soft and wouldn’t hold up. He advised us to “raise cane” and be “very” persistent and Newmar would take care of it. And believe it or not, after several phone calls...they did!!Newmar recovered both front seats and REPLACED both the couches, at no charge to us. This was after our coach was out of warranty as well.

We have since traded into a 15 Essex, and you guessed it, same problem, same color leather... So, here we go again!!

Geez, aren’t motor homes fun??!!!

You should have been given a Ventana Specialists name when you bought your coach, they have a specialist for each of the larger coach models...that’s where we got the most accomplished. Just remember, PERSISTENCE!!! Good Luck... hope this gives you a little encouragement,

My 2015 Ventana has the problem on one of the seats - the passenger seat. Finish is peeling/flaking off the headrest area and one of the armrests. I have tried twice to get Newmar to replace the seat. All they are willing to do is sell me new cover or new seat for half retail price. Still around $500 for one seat cover plus I would have to pay for installing the cover. Clearly the finish is defective. Newmar should be doing more on this issue! I am very disappointed.

Our 2011 MADP front seats have failed also they just peel away. I suggest you contact Newmar customer service and they will work with you even if your not the original owner.

In going through the service receipts for our new-to-us 2008 KSDP, I see that our seat bottoms have been replaced once already. And they'll need replacing again soon.

Both seat arms and backs are showing damage on the outsides (facing the windows), so I have the feeling much of the problem is UV damage from the Sun.

I think I'd rather replace with good quality fabric next time. I've had much better luck with fabric than this "Ultra Leather" stuff on other vehicles.

Front seat wear

One of the problems that we have is the generic use of the phrase “Ultra Leather” and unfortunately most manufacturers use an off brand substitute rather than the real thing.

I also had a problem with my Ventana seats and after talking to Newmar, their 50% off retail was still higher than buying directly from Flexsteel. And that was for the standard “Halo” leather.

Buying direct from Flexsteel, I was able to upgrade the material to the real Ultra Leather and saved over $400 on the 2 captain chairs. And there is a noticeable difference in the feel of the material.

I can highly recommend getting the real thing and if you’re going out of pocket $$$$, this is an option.

We previously had a 2003 coach with real ultraleather seats. After 14 years and nearly 100K miles, they still looked great whn we traded it early this year.e
