How the heck do you hold the original shock from spinning when trying to remove it? I didn't feel an Allen slot at the top of the shaft, nor a nut to hold it while trying to remove the old ones. Did you clamp down on the body while trying to loosen the nuts? Is there somewhere to grip the shock to prevent turning? The Koni's have an Allen slot to put an Allen wrench in to hold while tightening their shocks so no problem there.

On my 2019 Ventana they were studs at the top and bottom that the shock slid on. If there isn't enough shaft to grab with vise grips to loosen the nut. Your easiest solution is a grinder with cut off wheel, cut the shaft right below the nut. I have had to do that on a car before, it will cut fast, if you can get a grinder in there.

Pull it down enough to get a vice grip pliers on the shaft.

Ventana-3412 and Country Road, thanks for your replies. St. Lucie Tire and Battery quoted me a price of $145 to do both front end shocks, (I already purchased the Koni's,) so I'm taking my coach there on Monday to have them do it. It is a tight fit to get close enough to get the shocks out and I'm not bullet proof nor that flexible anymore at nearly 72 years old. Besides, my wife wants to go shopping this weekend along with New Years Eve events.
Happy New Year to everyone

I would second the idea of a mobile mechanic. I have used them twice and the service was excellent.
As for $400 labor to replace the two front shocks, yikes! I've done it and for comparison, it was much easier than changing the oil on my Honda Ridgeline.

I never did get a chance to have them installed. This weekend, I'll give it a try by myself once again.
