Frsh Water Pump Question

Been living in my new 2012 Canyon Star since mid December at the FamCamp at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson. On full hook ups so have not had reason to use water from tank. Was wondering if there is a problem running the water pump while hooked up to city water?

Just to add that I love my Newmar.

No problem. Some do it to get an extra kick on the shower.

We do it often and also to get more pressure. It's probably good for the pump to have it working once in a while.

Yes for the added pressure. I have an older houseboat and one of my dock buddies suggested I run the pump with the dock water and that helped out quite a lot. So I do the same with my pusher.

Thanks. It seemed Ok to me but wanted to be sure before i tried it. It certainly does help with pressure.

Only "problem" is if the fresh water tank is empty or if your pump has a "Winterize" valve in the "Suck out of the antifreeze bottle" position (not all rigs have such a valve, mine for example does not).

In either of those cases it will push air into the line and that makes a bit of a mess (Makes faucets "Spit" water)

"Fixing" the problem is easy, Add water to tank or turn valve to Normal..
