I'm guessing you have a Centroid sensor and noted in the above post. They were pretty much the only ones around years ago. Their sensor, the top you can see was about 3" in diameter and had some adjustment screws. There should be a photo or diagram in that link.

Have you ever had issues with algae in the tank? Algae on the sensor shaft has been an issue in the past.

When I had my Diplomat and the sensor (Centroid) started acting wonky, I readjusted it via those screws. The instructions should be in the link. Readjusting made it work correctly again.

lastly, if you do have the old-style Centroid, look at these adjustments...

When we bought our '97 coach the fuel tank sender was very erratic above half but if I got down below half it worked fine. It was/is a resistance type sending unit. I called Spartan and they said "discontinued". At the Tampa RV Supershow I stopped at the Spartan booth and talked to the parts manager, who confirmed that they were discontinued but he made a phone call and found out that they had sold off all the old stock to a 3rd party that sold them through their website. I went to the website and found one but it was not cheap. I can't find a bookmark on my PC (it's been quite a few years). Try calling Spartan (if you have a Spartan chassis) and ask who they sell their discontinued items to. Good luck.
