Many readers read way to much into to my work-around if they did not want to put a properly designed vent tube into the tank their tank. You only need the air to be 1/4" higher then the fuel in the tank at the fill point. Just don't face the front of the MH down if you want 1. A full tank. 2. Want to fill fast at the end of your fill.
If you are just shoveing

My shop averaged 500 motorhome tune ups a year also during these years. I opened a shop between the two big MH dealers (Sportscoach and Holiday Rambler) who were calling me 1 to 3 times per week to come down and "FIX" their pissed off customers new coach.

If you are just shoveing fuel to any un-full amount. You can let it Rip!!!

Happy Fueling. [emoji847][emoji4][emoji4]

I had the same problem and fought it for years. Now I just crack the fill cap on opposite side before filling and problem solved. Leave door open as reminder to close cap before leaving.

gptexas,

If that is where the air is, Great. There are multiple ways to let it out including a vent line properly placed in the tank....[emoji847]

Lookie Here on a toilet not flushing. Newton's Law applies again.

3 things can cause that

Black Tank is FULL

Toilet down pipe is obstructed

Black Tank Vent Line is obstructed (or has fallen down into tank)

Air in tank has to get out in order for liquids to flow into tank

Burping/gurgling when flushing toilet is due to air escaping up thru toilet

Back when I was filling diesels I'd use these around the nozzle.

More expensive than paper towels, but they are designed to absorb fuel and in my opinion do it better than a paper towel. 1/2 or maybe 1/4 of a sheet is all you should need, unless you're making a really big mess.

They are actually designed to be used in water to absorb spills by boaters. They absorb fuel but water just runs off.

Saw your post and ordered these. I've been using them for the last few fill-ups. Very pleased with the result. Will continue to use them. Thanks for the great suggestion.

Since my only issue was the diesel puking back upon fill up and did not have any issues with getting the tank full, I also ordered these pads...should arrive today. Glad to hear they help!

My next step is to take a look at the hose routing behind the fill cap to see if there may be an issue there. Anyone experiencing this issue?

Have you tried opening the passenger side fuel door while filling on the drivers side? Much better venting if you do.
