Full Wall Slide
Hello all, the full wall slide out on our 2022 Ventana needs a side to side adjustment. The top front edge of the slide is almost scraping the coach body when we retract it. The gap top to bottom on the rear end of the slide out is significantly greater.
I do not know how to adjust the slide, so I am getting it done by the professionals at NIRVC. I received a quotation of $1,007.80 (Labor $956, Shop Supplies $47.80 and Tax $4.00). No parts need to be replaced, it only needs to be adjusted. I am wondering if more than 3 hour labor charge is fair, or excessive?
Looking forward to receiving your responses. Thanks in advance.
Greg

What are your alternatives? Mobile service tech you trust? Getting these coaches worked on is expensive. Did you ask them how long they anticipate the realignment to take and how may technicians would be involved? I have not had this service performed on our coach, but I am not surprised at the quote.

I've had similar work done on the FWS on my Ventana last fall. My bill was somewhat less than that but I'd call it "in the ball park" considering that labor rates in the large areas that NIRVC serves are more than they are in SW Michigan. They probably estimated the job worst case scenario.
I'd just ask what the estimate includes and if they did not spend as much time on it as anticipated, only charge for the actual time spent.

It’s probably a flat rate thing by the book. Those guys don’t guess at to much.

Your description sounds like the slide needs to be recentered in the coach wall opening. I don't know what the centering control mechanism is for your coach but for that price, I would ask for at least one additional recentering if their service isn't adequate to keep it centered for an extended period of time.

What slide mechanism does your Ventana have? If it’s HWH, it’s a simple fix.

Slide room adjustment consideration
"The top front edge of the slide is almost scraping the coach body when we retract it."
This indicates the either the slide out room or the opening in the sidewall is no longer square. Adjusting the room will basically consist of loosening tracks and hardware and knock the room back to gain clearance. It the opening is going out of square then the bottom right will become a limitation.
With the coach being fairly I would reach out to manufacturer. The sidewall going out of square is a sign of structural fatigue. the fatigue may even begin from the floor and chassis structure. Future repair may even include removing and re-working the flange and trim around the slide room.

Ventanas still have electric motors all around...at least through 2023.

I'd just get a zoom slide system installed and they'll fix the slide while they're at it

Newmar doesn't use Schwintek slide systems. You can't just add a Zoom system to a unit that uses under the slide mechanisms.
