Full wall slide problem

I have a 18 DS 4369. I went to my warehouse to plug in a new toad to make sure all the lights were working properly and they were. I put my jacks up and put my slides in and pulled out as I was walking around the coach I heard some popping sounds on the drivers side and watched my FWS creeped out about 3" out so I closed it up again and the same thing happened. Any ideas? Happy Holidays

Sounds a lot like the bad slide gear boxes the Newmar’s are known for. Do some searching here and you’ll find additional information.

Hi Mitch - You have an HWH full wall slide and a likely issue is that one of the solenoids is leaking back internally. Sometimes a bit of trash gets in the wrong place and will result in your problem. If you are mechanically inclined you can flip the lever on the solenoids for that slide and bump the button to run it for s few seconds. That might wash it clear but more than likely the solenoid will need replacing.

The above is based on the assumption that you have adequate fluid in the reservoir and there are no leaks.

When our coach was new we had the same problem. The dealer fixed a hydraulic leak and got some air in the lines. The levers mentioned above helped some. Still had some issues. The room would drift out an inch or so every 200 miles. We would stop and run it in. We took it to Nappanee and they changed the Sync Cylinder. Never had a problem after that.

Full wall slide problem

Here is a picture of the solenoids that Ricci is referring to above.

They are in your basement on the curb side.

We had similar problem with the FWS on our 17 DS 4018. We opened each valve and “burped” out the air and that solved our problem. If your valves are faulty, you may need more of a repair.

on newer coaches, a very very few of them, may get debris in the system.
usually, opening the valve and allowing fluid to flush thru the valve will fix some of them.once the debris is in the tank, it cannot reenter the system again because of the 30 micron sock filter on the pump intake in the tank.
if this does not cure the problem, you can have the valve rebuilt, or replaced.
you can diagnose the problem, whether its the solenoid valve, or sync cylinder, but you need pressure gauges and shut off valves to do it.
if you dont have that equipment, its easier to replace the solenoid valve first. if that doesnt cure it, look at the sync cylinder.
as long as both ends extend together, those are the only two things that cause the problem.
that

Thanks Stuart W, beat me to it, he doesn't own a Newmar.
Will be placing this thread in the big sticky and new slide thread.
First time I have seen these two solenoids in a good display I think the older coach's were hidden in compartment ceilings. Thanks to deaton also for this picture.
