Question Full wall slide topper won't retract

We have '11 MA. As we extended our full wall slide I heard a loud sound like something cracked. Thinking something was wrong, we began to bring in the slide and noticed the topper was not recoiling. We have left it open and now need to know what we should do.
Oh and did we say we are camped in no-where's-land. Going to give Newmar a call in the morning! Can't sleep!

Sounds like the spring let loose. Might try to re-tension it in the morning.

If the spring broke, which sounds like it did, you could remove the aluminum housing and probably roll the cover in by hand.

Jus so you all know those toppers cannot be rolled by hand. 28' is just too much to handle. It is a job for Girard!
