I see that but wouldn’t the surge guard you have also protect against spikes and low voltage?

Yes it does. The Autoformer acts as the primary protection against spikes and as a backup if one or the other gets hit with a spike. It is also much easier and less expensive to replace the spike module on the Autoformer than it is on the Surge Guard.
I am full timing and I like to have backups of critical systems.

I only use my autoformer if the voltage is low for exactly what the OP found.

I was aware that the Autoformer increased by 2% in the normal range before buying it. That was one of the reasons I opted not to hardwire it in. I have my Progressive EMS plugged into the Autoformer and the 50 amp plugged into that so, if the output gets too high, I can delete the Autoformer. I have a lockable container that holds the Autoformer off the ground, out of the weather, with ventilation. (per a warning)

I am thinking the separate, weatherproof and lockable container is the way I will go, too, mainly because I don't think there's space in the shore power reel bay for the autoformer. I've been looking for suitable containers and am curious what type you're using? Thanks!

I found something that would work at a flea market with a few modifications, such as the venting and holes for the cord in and out.
