Funny Smell

2010 baystar 2902. there is a funny chemically smell on the left side of my bedroom slide. at first i thought it was the toilet, but theres no smell in the bathroom. i used my moisture meter and the floor in that area is really high in moisture. i really have no experience with mold, and dont know what it smells like. any help would be appreciated

Is bathroom next to bedroom.. Could be leak under floor or rug. .leaking window or roof dripping down inside of wall.

If your rug in the slide area is wet water will travel off slide when extended and enter the coach.
If you lift the rubber seal and look under it near the wall you will see sealant build up that's used to deflect the water off slide trim and drop to ground before following trim into you slide opening and rug in bedroom.
If you look at other side of slide and maybe your FWS you should see the same build up of sealant.
Easy fix would be to add more sealant and build up the blocking dam to stop intrusion of water.

NEWMAR SEARCH

Newmar information.

Once you fix problem use hair dryer to dry the rug and floor.

there is nothing wet, just moist. and it doesnt feel wet to the touch, just damp as confirmed by my moisture meter. i have been dealing with torrential rain in texas the last week, and before that i was in nasty rain in florida. i looked under the black tank but it seems fine. i just wanna know what mold smells like. if its mold i can deal with it.

Just Google "moisture meter". Amazon, Home Depot, etc carry them.

Chech with carpet cleaning supply companies. Used one that worked great. Had 2 prongs stuck in rug or wall just actually touch it to area and it will beep slow for damp and faster for wet. Had red light that flashed at same speed if beeps. About 50 bucks. Very sensitive.

It was wet before you found it and will get wet again if not repaired which will lead to rotten floor problem.

You might look at the slide that has the sink...on mine the swivel fitting that allows the slide to go in / out had a crack at the bottom due to the high flex load. Not so good smell. If you run the water to the sink, it would likely leak on the floor if it's cracked.
The swivel was accessible when opening the cabinet doors. Don't know if this applies to yours. But the smell travels so it's hard to isolate.

it looks like "007" nailed it. the right hand lower side of the slide has a white silicone patch at the bottom that is not newmar, behind the gaskets. the other side is still factory paint. what do i use for this? dicor or regular silicone?

Dicor should hold to form for a dam, silicon may be to soft especally when temperatures start to heat up during summers.
Remove old and clean for good adhesion.
