FWS Locking Mechanism - Extended (1-2”) While Driving

Once the FWS is retracted what keeps it that way?

Yesterday when departing the CG I did my walk around and the FWS was fully retracted. I stopped to get fuel an hour down the road the the FWS was extended 1-2 inches. I closed it back up but before leaving the truck stop it appeared it was coming out again, but only about 1/4”. So I decided to extend the slide about a foot and then retract and it was fine upon arriving at the next CG 4 hours later.

I figured I would check the locking mechanism to ensure that its okay, but I don’t really know if there is one other than the HWH valves.

We have a 18 LA with the HWH full wall slide. Haven't seen any locking device and would say that the hydraulic valves would be your locking device which would then mean at least one would be leaking. Would think that there would be at least two and that is why it only came out the first time a inch or so. Which ever side that came out the most would have been the valve side that is leaking.

There is no “lock” for the HWH FWS. Hydraulic pressure is what keeps the slide securely in place. You might get lucky and just have a bit of dirt in one of the solenoid valves but most likely will happen again.
