FYI- Ford V-10 decibel level

Since I have a gasser in a new Newmar, I've heard questions of how loud the engine is when Erving out climbing a hill or downshifting on a steep grade. I got this decibel meter App on my IPad. At 4500 rpm the decibel level is 81. That seems loud, but I can still talk to my wife with no issues. But, for you diesel guys that must be horrendous! 😅

Many folks have quieted down the V10 by adding sound deadening to the doghouse. Fact is, the Triton V10 is a high revving engine and it's almost between the driver and passenger's seats. It's a pretty good engine, and I especially like the features of the transmission for going down hill. Enjoy it and don't worry about the numbers.

I really like the 6 speed Tranny. I agree 100% about how great it works going downhill. A lifesaver for your brakes.

Yes I found the noise less that expected. I also opened up the dog house. Damn that thing is heavy. No doubt a ton of sound deadening used. But then again with the diesel the engine is at the other end so I am sure it is quieter. But I can live with the gas racket just pump up the tunes louder.
