Garmin 1090 Mount

Looking for some feedback as to where folks are mounting there Garmin 1090??
We currently have a rather old Garmin which is mounted on a bean bag (love it) however after talking to Garmin 1090 does not fit on ball and bean bag, (to top heavy). Would like to be able to have navigator and driver be able to access while traveling. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is how I mount in my 21 DS. I use the suction mount provided with the GPS and I power using a short usb cable right below. I know that many say you cannot use the 890 with a usb power cable but the 1090 works just fine in my DS. No need for me to install another cigarette adapter!

I use a d1sc on my dash, and mount the 1090 using a suction cup mount over the rear view camera monitor

On your 2019 DS, there is kind of a tower on the left side of the console near the driver's window. I found this to be a good place to make a custom mount as directly behind it is the "A" pillar, so you don't really block your view. Something similar to UXMHAULER's mount.

I made a flat mount that holds my laptop with my engine program. It's just above the phone charger and I can still place my phone on the charger. I never make any holes in the dash or anywhere else that are visible. If I need to make a mount, I use existing screws and incorporate them into the mount.

Personally, I prefer the GPS incorporated into the dash radio. However, we run two GPS units. The other is mounted near the vertical grab bar by the passenger's seat. My wife operates this one. The dash unit is set to the destination and the passenger one we use to find spots in between or to compare to the dash.

My navigator runs waze primarily for road debris, I run 1090 and RM. Use the supplied suction mount to the drivers window.

In our 2022 Ventana, mounted it by using the supplied suction mount and a mounting disc. I positioned it landscape to the left of the steering wheel so that it floats just above the lighting control switches. For power, I installed an accessory plug behind it (used the power window circuit since I don’t have power windows).

For my co-pilot, she downloaded the Garmin Drive app to her phone. While we’re on route somewhere, she can use Apple maps to find a stop like a restaurant, etc. then can share it directly from Apple maps and it pops up on the garmin with options to add it as a waypoint or a new final destination.

Been working flawlessly.

I have room on the center panel to mount a ball. The 1090 is easily seen by me and my copilot

Bought these disks from Amazon and put it on top of the dash. Flawless

Note; the 1090 base is larger than a regular Garmin base.

I drilled 4 small holes through the plastic face and used a 1” ball and a coupler to the 1” ball on the Garmin.

The Garmin 1090RV comes with a great suction mount, this mount also provides power to the unit. It easily allows you to just pull the unit off and use as a tablet to program routes. Your power cord plugs right into this mount.
I have placed the mount on the drivers window at the farthest forward edge. This allows the unit to be viewed vertical in front of the windshield pillar.

I utilized the supplied hard mount, mounted it to a base I made, base is stuck to the dash with industrial hook & loop, AND screwed to dash using existing dash screw. I made my blank with cardboard, purchased a small scrap of aluminum from "Metal by the Foot", cut it out, smoothed the edges, & painted flat black. It's very firmly mounted & should leave no scar when/if removed.
