Garmin 770

Yesterday my much loved Garmin 770 let me down, way down!
Central Florida is not a good area for the Garmin. I gave it the address to take me to NW 45th ave, it took me to NE 45th Ave. NE 45th Ave is a very narrow 2 lane road leading to small horse properties. Fortunately, I encountered a telephone repairman who laughed at the idea of using a Garmin and directed me to the correct road. The repair guy said he gave up on his Garmin when it tried to send him down an ATV track.
Guess I'll start looking at other brands of RV specific GPS. (I updated it 2 days ago)

My Garmin 760rv has tried to route me through pastures too. I’m very happy with the new xite. Maybe you could be one and install in your dash?

Review the settings such as avoiding unpaved roads.

All GPS devices have their issues, but so far Garmin is still the better of the lot. I just upgraded to the 770 to get the WIFI update capability and it worked great. No more dealing with a PC for updates. I’ll test it next week on trip to beach.

Sounds like you didn't proofread the address...if you put it in as an address.

I like to look at places on Google Earth. If you zoom into your exact destination...you can screenshot and capture the coordinates. I input this into my Clarion...as the Clarion lets you input coordinates in any format. Then I pull up "detailed information" on my Clarion unit...which gives the coordinates in decimal format.

I then store the point as decimal coordinates (my chosen default) into my Garmin RV760LMT. To me it's faster than filling in all the layered fields needed to input an address.

When Navigating....the Clarion only has the final destination...and I add via points to my Garmin for fuel stops, rest stops, or intersections to force a more favorable route.

The 770 allows coords to be input as well and you can choose the format. You first have to add the coordinate option to allow you to even enter the coords which wasn't the easiest to discover, and then you can choose the format. Not sure if this is any change between the 760 and 770.

Both my 760's listen to me

And I've never had to shout at them like I did with the in dash unit in the Audi Q5s or the Ford Explorer Sport!

I don't double check anything - it seems to find 99.9% of what I am looking for... but when I don't listen and miss a turn it will 'gently' suggest how to get back on route !

True...you can choose formatting from drop down menu...whereas the Clarion can accept any...it just depends on if you use the degree symbol or a decimal point. No need to choose just one format at a time.
