GE Advantium 120 Problems Using

Wondering if its just "Us" or if others here are having or have had issues with getting their Newmar factory installed GE Advantium 120 Speed/Convection/Microwave Ovens to work properly.

Following all user instructions supplied and using many of the pre-selected menu choices, thus far we have been extremely unsuccessful in getting the oven to perform. Our food items either do not cook at all or are undercooked. An example of this would be our having followed the instructions to bake a potato using the Speed Cook cycle which per the guidance provided should only take 4-5 plus plus any pre-heat time adjustment by the oven - but that failed. In fact we tried it multiple times to include increasing to cook time and following the pre-set settings of (U=10, L=10, M=0) with no success. Potatoe was found to be nowhere near cooked.

If you've had this experience (learning curve) of using these ovens, please help with whatever advice you can.

A Baked potato should take about 45 minutes to bake at 350

We've been very happy with our Advantium, but we've not tried to use the auto settings. Past experience shows those typically leave something to be desired, even the popcorn setting. My wife uses it for baking all the time. We do cook some items frequently and may try the feature allowing you to program in your own "quick set" recipes.

We fought to have the originally installed Whirlpool replaced with the Advantium. Now that was a piece of junk.

Why/how did you get Advantium ILO std Whirlpool? Didn't think of asking about this when ordering?

It came with the Whirlpool, which never worked properly, either the microwave or the oven. If I were ordering again, I'd insist on the GE.

It took us a few months of blood sweat and tears to get Newmar to make the change. They kept insisting the Whirlpool "tested" fine (using amp draw measurements). Not the same as cooking in it. The final resolution was a net cost to us of $327, after giving us a wholesale allowance (which we haven't gotten back yet) for the old Whirlpool of $273.

So it wasn't just simply a cookability problem. The problem specifically was a higher amperage draw? That might be an issue, yes?!? I hope I can still amend my order (GE Advantium Convection Microwave ILO std Whirlpool Convection Microwave). They're not gonna like me, are they?

When we ordered our '02 DSDP we had Newmar install an Advantium as a special. Kind of expensive at about $750 in 2002.

Newmar replaced the Frigidare that came standard in our Dutch Star 3 times.
First time is just quit, no display. Second time it would work intermittently and the temperatures were way off. For example, if you set it at 350, it would only get up to 255 actual. Setting it to 400, you got 281. The next one they put in, I went to pick it up at the dealer and went to look at the install and it was running by itself and it was super hot. The only way to get it to stop was to unplug it. Newmar replaced that one with a GE at no cost to me.... other than driving 200 miles to the dealer 3 times for the replacements.

They were saying the power draw was "normal"
