Gel Goat Blisters - Top of Front Cap
My 2015 Bay Star Sport 3309 front cap has what appears to be gel coat blisters - this is only on the top (not visible from the ground). Is this something I need to be concerned about and have repaired? Would Newmar cover it (the coach is 5 years old)? Anyone have similar issues?

That's not gel coat. That's clear coat lifting.
solution is sand till no blemishes, spray the color coat followed by clear coat.
I will be doing mine this week. Might even be same color

Contact Newmar and they will help with the cost of re-applying the clear coat. The whole edge and front and rear caps will need doing. I am taking my coach to the factory in 2 weeks to have mine done.

Thats good to hear, better clear coat than the gel coat. What was your source of paint and clear coat? Greatly appreciated.

One buys paint from body shop supply shops. Can be at a NAPA auto parts store (one example).
Good paint ain't cheap.

After have 3 new Newmar coaches ( 2-LA and Essex ) we have never had any clear coat damage by using 303 Protectant twice a year on the front and rear caps. Easy to use and does a great job of protecting your coach. All 3 coaches are never garaged and find that using on the rest of the coach shiny and bright.

I would hope so. It took my 2001 MADP over 15 years before the top gel coat to give out.

I assume you meant Clear Coat (not Gel Coat).

Update: I called Newmar service and they are helping me out with this repair even though it is out of warranty. I have in at my local RV service location and they are going to wet sand, paint, and reapply the clear coat - both front and back cap tops.

That's good Newmar is stepping up.
I started repairing mine. First picture is what the problem is...similar to yours. Second picture is about an hour into Air DA sanding with 100 grit. Left side is mostly down to gel coat. Most of the time is spent cutting the clear off. There is actually little base coat as it cuts right through.
Ran out of 100 grit. Started down the awning side sanding off the scrapes from the awning that run a muck in a tornado smacking everything on the roof.
As you can tell, if yours is like mine, wet sanding isn't going to get the job done. They might end up going right down to primer / paint / clear like mine. I know it's an adhesion problem so didn't want to put good paint on top of a bad base.

Yup, that's what it takes to do well. The sanding step is most of the work.
