Generator

I replaced the belt on my 10k generator. It took about two hours to remove everything and get in the cavity under the RV. Of course all the parts I purchased were wrong. Cummins said I needed a kit to remove one of the fan belts and convert the fan to direct drive. My unit was built with only one belt so I did not need to install the kit. I had it in for service 6 months ago at Cummins and asked them to check the belt. The technician replied, if it is not making noise don't worry. Well, It was very loose with only 1000 hours and 6 years old. Check your belt.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have a 04 Essex with 12.5 Onan with 600 hrs. and still have the original belts. Have heard about the time and work to replace belts with the single belt system and will need to go there some time soon. Needs to be done.
