Generator hour meter not working

I've used my generator for less than 10 hours total (monthly 1/2 hours and a few hours last Fall out West). I just noticed that the hour meter is still on 0000. Tried to get it off so I could check to see if there was any power to it, but Newmar has it mounted in such a way that I can't remove it. Don't really want to take it back to the dealer (an hour away) if it's something I can figure out myself. Any suggestions?

I would think, since it is still under warranty, to leave well enough alone and put it on the list for your next visit to the dealer.

Bob - Have not looked at mine cause it works, but usually hour meters are a simple two wire hookup - ignition and ground. Could a wire be loose or not connected?

Probably could be, but this forum is filled with guys who were just gonna fix something easy, and it turns into not being able to use something. Registering hours is the least of any problem on this forum and that is why I suggested it could wait, but if you want to get your tester and flashlight then go ahead!

My hour meter works correctly on the generator - but not on the Freightliner info dash display. Registers 0 hours.

Had the same problem and Newmar replaced the Clock. Don't know what happened, had the same problem you had, was running at least once per month for 2+ years and told Cummins dealer to change the oil and filter on the generator and latter he said "you should run your generator at least once per month and I said "I DO" and he showed me NO TIME on the clock.
I do know this, there was time on the clock at one time as I maintain a log on when I test or check things on MH. Did I write down the hours, NO just a remark that I was coming up to 50 hours on the generator. Hours go into the log now.
