Getting a 2022 Mountain Aire 4118 next week

Hello,
Just joined this forum. My wife and I are going to pick up our 2022 Newmar Mountain Aire 4118 next week. We last owned 1997 HR Vacationer over 20 years ago and loved it. Kids are all grown and retiring in a couple months. Plan to sell the house and become full time RVers. Any advice would be helpful on questions to ask dealer, first trip idea (we are in western NY), go to Nappanee?, actions to avoid new owner mistakes, and anything else?
Thanks in advance, we are excited to start our new adventure.

That's a great coach. You're going to love it. Have a ball and be safe.

I would advise videoing the PDI walkthrough so you have a reference that you can check if you come across something that you can't remember. Trust me when I say that there will be times when it happens. This is also handy when you and your spouse disagree over what the person said. 😁 This is also evidence when you were told to do something wrong and it causes something to break.

We picked up our 2022 4118 Mountain Aire August 1st this past year and really love it! We have been full time in it since then and have put just over 11k miles on it in that time.

My suggestion is to first take it on a good long trip so you can get to know it well and then call Newmar to make an appointment in Nappanee to get the first round of manufacture issues taken care of. The team at Nappanee was great not only taking care of issues, but they also did some upgrades to several systems for us without us even asking. It was also a great time to have them available to answer questions on systems that I didn't even know enough about to ask questions when we first picked the rig up.

This is our third coach we've owned and have to say that its by far the best coach we've owned... once you get those first bugs worked out and really learn to use it properly.

Make sure you understand your service options. Undoubtedly you will wind up with a punch list of warranty items. Some dealers will not take you in for warranty if you did not buy from them. Our dealers in Florida usually want to keep the coach for 3-4 weeks to fit into their work schedule. That can be a big bummer if full timing. You mentioned Nappanee which is always a better option since you can stay in the Coach at night and from what I have heard in other posts they can get through a decent list of items in one week.

Welcome and I recommend joining the Newmar Kountry Klub and then the Fulltimers Chapter. You can join multiple chapters but you’ll have a lot in common with the FT group.

We have our business meeting just before the International Rally someplace close to where the big rally but is usually a week ahead. The 22 FT Rally was in Heber City, Utah and then the International was in Wyoming.

Members are welcome at any rally as you travel around.

Thanks so much for your inputs, all great advice. We are going to pick it up in a couple weeks. We are very excited and look forward joining some Newmar clubs and planning out our first trip. Plan is to sell the house this spring.

One thing we did when getting ready to pickup our new SuperStar was hire an independent inspector.

Nice for peace of mind and they did find some things that were corrected by the dealer before we picked it up.

Since we were coming from a gas class c it was nice having someone go through it with knowledge I hadn’t gained yet.

We also took a GoPro to the walkthrough and recorded it all so we would have a reference for anything we needed.

A great suggestion which I've seen posted before!

Make separate "videos" of all your "walk-thru" segments. Great for referral!
Take your time, and even if repeated, go over the item until you understand it!

Best of Luck! Make "miles of smiles" on your RV journey!

We live in Rochester, NY. We found out about the RV while at the Tampa RV show. We’ve joined the Newmar club and there are different RV sources for information out there. A little overwhelming with so much info, not sure exactly where to start. Looking for a single source RV info site that best suits our needs. It has been 20 years since we had a Class A. Thank you.
