Girard NOVA remote control operation?

2017 Dutch Star 4369

We received no manuals for the Girard NOVA Awnings. During the PDI review, the technician told us to use the small remote control to operate the awnings. The remote has a series of 5 red lights. Pressing IN or OUT illuminates the first red light and both side rail awnings operate together. I cannot get the remote to operate the door awning or the window awnings or the large awnings separately. Can someone assist or point me to the operators manual online?

I called Newmar and they are looking for a manual. I called Girard and they are closed.

Any assistance would be appreciated since we are finally situated in a location where we can use our awnings.

Not sure but look in the cabinet in front of and forward of the passenger seat. There should be a button for the door awning

The awning over your door has its own remote or is operated by holding the button above the passenger side window.

I'm going to assume you have the double Garard awnings. On your Nova remote on the right side you will see a circle with an arrow head. Press and when all the 5 lights illuminate both awnings will be controlled with the in and out arrows. Press again and the top light is illuminated. This will control the front awning with the in/out. Press again and the second light is illuminated. This will control the back awning in/out. The manual for the awning are available on line.

We looked and looked for our Gerard manual, turns out it's a DVD. Hope you find it. The lights are channels 1-5 the first light is Chanel one etc. when all are on then both awnings respond.

I am assuming you have the Girard package which means all awnings are Girard. The remote should have a small circular arrow each time you push it it should change channels from 1 thru five with one light lite at a time ,one more click will lite up all five. Each single light will operate one awning, if all lights are on all awning should operate at once. Mine only has two Girard Nova awnings with both lights on both extend and retract.

Your window and door awnings are not controlled by the remote but by buttons in the overhead cabinet (the bedroom awning button is "hidden" at the back of one of the overhead cabinets back there). Others have already given you good information on operating the remote for the big awnings.

Thanks for the replies. I now can get the remote to operate the two main awnings, but not the door awning. The online Girard manuals are essentially worthless when explaining the remote control.

As far as I know the only way to operate the door awning is by button in passenger overhead cabinet.

The door awning is not operated by the remote, but by a button in the cabinet either over the door or over the driver.

We have two Girards on top and the Dometic for the door. We found our door awning switch behind both MTC shades above the passenger side window on the wall. Took us weeks. Even the dealer was stumped. Then we noticed a remote control unit in the back back side of the passenger side bay in front of the drive axle. Also found I like to operate the awnings from the receiver units in the wall in the bay. I can sit there and watch the awnings and stop them before they hit a tree branch. My Girard remote may have a low battery as it seems inconsistent lately.
