Grand Rapids to Newmar

We are going to the Newmar factory tomorrow coming from northern Michigan,
Looking for reccomendations once I get to Grand Rapids.
Has anybody driven 131 south, what condition is the road in ?
I came up I-196 & it's in pretty bad shape.

You should have no problems on 131 from Grand Rapids. I just came that way earlier today returning to Kalamazoo from the Muskegon area.

As you get into the Grand Rapids area, and through Grand Rapids, the road gets a bit bumpy and traffic can get heavy. When the road opens up to 3 lanes work you way to the center lane and stay there. We usually remain in the center lane until we are south of downtown where the road goes back to 2 lane when we move back over to the right. A few miles south of Kalamazoo 131 becomes just another US highway and is no longer limited access. Still a reasonable road and 4 lanes through 3 Rivers. From there you are on 2 lane highway.

We've taken that route from GR to Newmar. Good roads, just not very fast as there are sections thru cities etc. its the most direct route.

Driving on the roads in Michigan says it all. Of all the roads in the US they are the worst.

X2!

Another option is Rt 31 which would take you further west but is all highway. Done it both ways. Either way is close in drive time. Enjoy the factory!
