Grass Cutting on Road Shoulder
Picked our 2015 VTDP 4369 up from Nappanee on Saturday after having a new windshield installed. On the way down to Indy on Route 31, a tractor lowers it’s mowing deck onto the shoulder that has a lot of loose gravel and a VERY LOUD, BANG, POP, and [Mod Edit] was heard. After about 10 miles I was finally able to pull over and slowly take a look. OMG! Saturday afternoon I was able to access the damage. Small chips through the Diamond Shield and into the fiberglass on the nose. And close to 100 small chips of various sizes along the lower half of the coach on the passenger side from nose to the battery bay[emoji33].
Pics taken and being sent out for estimates. Insurance inspection on Wednesday.
Pretty sure I have no options with Indiana DOT.
Painful day.

Do you have either a witness or a camera?
You most certainly have a case against the contractors insurance.
It is much easier to file a claim against your insurance and provide them with all the details about the contractor possible. They will go after the third party and collect the money, and it wont affect your rating.

I’m with Redbaron, you have nothing to loose. My experience with civil employees has been nice gets you farther then nasty.

I would certainly call Indiana DOT and see what the steps are to file a claim.

INDoT will ask for Date, time, location and any identifying marks (equipment number) on the mowing equipment.
Are you sure it was INDoT mowing and not a farmer or other land owner?

Not to take away from the damage done, I thought the suspense was leading up to having your new windshield being broken. I'd definitely file a claim with someone.

Heck, I did not want to have to buy dashcam, but it seems things are getting rotten along the roads and one is almost a necessity, and so along with previous poster, please make recommendations on which ones are good, and at least 1080 resolution and self contained memory. I don't know anything about them.

Sorry about the mower. Sounds like a very expensive fix. I'm very happy with my Blackview 1ch-750. If I was doing it now I would get the 4K. DR900S-1CH

Irony is, we bought a Blackview over a year ago and have used it religiously. With the new windshield I was going to wait until I got back to Indy to reinstall. Too little too late.
