Hamper Cabinet

Like many Newmar coaches, we have a laundry hamper / cabinet in the bathroom right next to the toilet. The idea is great but the door does not open wide enough to be useful. We have tried putting a laundry bag in the box, but then we need to empty the bag to remove laundry from the cabinet.

my thought is to remove the door and hinge on the bottom. i won't replace the hinge, but keep the latch and add 2 more so we have a latch on 3 sides. Then I'll mount a piece of wood to the bottom of the door to serve as a reference for the door to sit on the inside of the cabinet frame in the correct height and centered on the opening.

So I'm looking for ideas to make this useful. Has anyone else made mods to this thing?

Wow, apparently the engineer that designed that had good intentions but did not think it through. Maybe take the door off and put a little curtain with a tension rod across it so you can easily access the cubby hole, or put a nice pretty basket in there and use it for toilet paper storage.
