Had A Blowout On A Comfort Drive Equipped Coach?
If so, which tire and how did you and CD handle it?
This could also be a rapid air leak.

I've never asked anyone, but I'd be willing to bet that in a sudden (explosive) blowout the CD wouldn't react. IIRC, it takes 15 seconds of fighting the wheel before the CD takes over. I doubt it would do much in the event of a blowout, but I've been wrong before...

I tried to find the email but could not. Ken sent me a video of a CD coach on a test track where they intentionally blew a tire. The coach vibrated at the blowout but Ken was able to apply the brakes and stop the coach with no issues. If Ken pops on, I am sure he will share it.

A sudden blowout steering jolt and a gradual wind/road correction are two very different types of triggers. In a wind/road adjustment situation you would probably be quite un-nerved if CD just banged on and took over. In those "gradual" type of adjustments CD is trying to balance between your input and the wind/road input and takes time to come to a balance so as to cause the driver no concern. CD just gradually ramps up almost without you knowing it. In a sudden blowout jolt you can bet CD will be far far faster to react than any human ever could and in that situation CD will do so regardless of your perceived comfort level in its doing so in order to maintain steering stability.
Still waiting for Ken, he is a co-designers of adapting TRWs commercial vehicle Column Drive to RVs as the Newmar/Spartan/TRW Comfort Drive.

Jeff, That would be my opinion also, however the proof is in the pudding. I would love to hear of any like experiences of any owners that have had the mis-fortune of having a blow out.

1. RVDude is right. It reacts to rapid changes quickly and steady conditions slowly.
2. I can't publish the video that Nathan saw. A customer paid for it has has the rights. It was also on a very light coach and not really applicable to the heavy iron so beloved today. If someboby is willing to fund a new test, I'll be glad to run it.

Hey Ken. Fund it? Like a case of beer? No friken sweat. A few brewskies, there are probably lots of "test dummies" hanging out here.
Note: This would exclude all Amigos and their trainer, The Doc. Been there, rolled that!
I believe the CD will out perform all, or most, steering assist system available on any current rig.
