Headlight Problem - High beams not working
Does anyone have any tips or tricks for troubleshooting why my headlight high beams will not come on? My low beams/running lights work fine but when I pull the lever to switch to high beams the low beams stay on but no high beams.
Thanks,
Greg

Can you get access behind switch and try spaying some contact spray on controls of switch may have oxidation from little use.
Maybe try on back of headlight wiring plug if it has one.
All the links below in my signature have links to many more for your Newmar.

On my Baystar it was fuse. High beam only has fuse.9

That poses an interesting question. When one switches to high beams does it leave the low on and add the high or switch from low to high?
The first thing I would do is pull a socket and check to see if power was being switched on and off at the high beam connection. Go from there. There is probably a relay between the stalk switch and the bulb.

If the 2000 model is the same as the 2006 model...yes, it is normal for both low and high beams to be on when high beams are selected.
Take a look in the bus bay (left side below driver) and see if you will find a "Spartan Controller" probably in the lower left side of the bay. This box controls headlight functions including DRLs.
If you have this controller and don't find any problems in the high beam selection switch then the controller is a significant suspect. It contains all the logic to run the headlights and some other functions but does NOT have any user serviceable parts except for a fuse.

My high/low beam switch is located on the column so I am not sure that I can get to any of the internals of the switch without pulling the steering wheel.
I could see the working on the back of the headlight wiring plug if it was just one light out. But with them both going out at the same time I believe it to be something deeper than a problem in the socket.

Agreed. It may time to track down either a fuse or relay issue.

Now...to try and find the fuse and/or controller on my coach. It sure would be easier if they centrally located the fuses.

Greg, not sure this link will help you or not its a 2006 dash wiring diagrams in middle of link may steer you in some direction.
The DP's we have discussed before had a strip of relays mounted some place in bay of coach.
Here is a TSB, which you have three pages, that is for a FL chassis didn't see one for a Spartan, headlight problem.
Use this link to get to all your TSB's AND RECALLS.

This is a link to my headlight upgrades.
This link specifically goes to a picture of the controller. It has its own fuse that is easy to see and access.
