Heater Valves

I always thought the dash heater on my 2018 Dutch Star (Freightliner) was useless. Then I read that there could be closed valves back near the radiator. So yesterday I pulled out the creeper and sure enough there were not 2 valves as I was expecting, but at least 4 and likely 6.

There are 4 yellow-handled ball valves that are currently closed and it seem that they should all be open. But in between the two pair of ball valves there are two different items that I suspect are also valves - they have T handles.

So my questions for those of you who understand this system are:

1) Should all the ball valves be in the open position?

2) What should be done with the two other valves?

3) Any reason not to leave all the valves open permanently unless the cooling system is being worked on?

Thanks.

I wish our 18 LA had valves to shut off coolant flow to the dash heater and Oasis system. These valves would be used if you had a coolant leak in your heater core or a leak with Oasis system. Plus if you had a heater hose leak in the heater hoses running from engine to these two units. You could shut off the gate valve that runs to dash heater during the summer to make you AC run a little cooler. I would say these valves are keep open all the time except for leaks or to shut off dash heater during the summer. 1 Point for FL.

Even though only two members responded to my post, I thought I'd post the answer. The four ball valves, which on my coach have yellow handles, need to be in the open position to get dash heat. The other two valves are actually petcocks where service technicians drain fluid for testing.
