HELP!!!! Coolant issue

Just took delivery of our 2010 Dutch Star which has the ISL 400 hp motor. Had to drop some coolant in it in checking all the fluids. Got on the highway and drove 15 or 20 miles and the temp is hovering at 205 or the notch between 170 and 240. I calculate it 240 - 170 = 70 split in half is 35 + 170 which is 205. Is that the correct operating range in 90 degree weather?

Thanks for any help.

Assuming flat highway. That sounds a little warm. Ours is usually around 185-190 with similar outside temps.
May need radiator cleaned.

Spk64 has the best first place to start. Remember to spray water from the back side of radiator to get it clean. Our 18 LA does run around 190 to 205 when temp. is above 90 out and we have our AC.

I usually run just under 200. Same year and motor.

Those analog gauges aren't always accurate. What does your digital instrument panel say the engine temp. is? That "might" be more accurate.

At least on my 2008 KSDP w/ Spartan MM chassis, if I press the upper instrument display button enough times I'll get engine temperature. Also transmission temperature.

Engine temp. also depends on ambient temp., are you using the dash air-conditioner, and are you going up a steep hill. If it's hot outside, and you're using the dash air-conditioner and you're going up a steep hill, that's a lot of stress -- and the engine can run considerably hotter than normal.
