Help Locked Out

Returned from 2 weeks away from coach and can’t get in the door. Entry door is unlocked, both deadbolt and tumbler, used key but door will not open, handle does not unlatch the mechanism.

I know people have put switch in to roll the driver window down. I bought the switch but never did the mod. Any way to get in the coach short of breaking window?

Of course we arrived at the coach at 11:30p, lucky we have relatives close by so I can attempt entry during the daylight.

Headed to coach now that it is daylight. Door is unlocked as I had key in toad but couldn’t get the handle to unlatch.

If you have the Trimark that looks like the one in this link you may have a broken bolt. It has happened to me twice. If so then let me know and I can tell you how I got it out/open.

I also just got back from 2 weeks away
and had the same problem with my

2017 DS. I unlocked the door held down
the handle and gave a mighty yank.
The door popped open. I think the rubber
moldings were holding the door closed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help everyone. With a-lot and I mean a-lot of pulling along with a call to Josh at Newmar I got it open. Yes it did seem the rubber was sticking mostly on lower half.

I will be putting in the switch in forward electrical bay next week.

I'm new here, what is the switch you are talking about? I had a Discovery that the lever bent that unlocks the door and locked us inside the coach.

Glad you finally got in, Bill. May I suggest that you wipe down your rubber door seals with a silicone lubricant? There are a number of rubber seal lubricants on the market.

In a pinch, I have used Armor All Original. It slicks things up and prevents sticking. It is available at most any auto parts store and many hardware stores.

Things like that never happen at a convenient time😀. I have some for the slide seals that I will use.

CWSwine

Switch is so one can open drivers side window giving access to inside of the coach by climbing thru window.

You just need a power window.

So if this same situation would have happened, and you had the remote window switch, it just would have allowed you to push the door open instead of pulling? I keep thinking I need the remote switch also and have not done it yet. Glad you didn't have to break a window.

In this case yes, I would have pushed instead of pulled. Only thing on the outside is the handle to pull on which I was afraid of breaking as it took a lot of force. From inside you can verify lock position, and push around the outer edge of door. I would of felt more comfortable being inside using more force.

I was kicking myself for not having done the switch or wires, just a little effort not expensive.

For the OP, out of curiosity does the Dutch Star use the same door latch as the Bay Star?

303 Protectant on all rubber every six months...entry door more often. Two inch foam paint brush makes it quick and neat.

Silicone is petroleum based...never on rubber, especially sun exposed.
