Angry HELP: Problem Retracting Kitchen Slide on Ventana

We are in the midst of a 3 month long trip out West and ran into a problem while trying to pack up and move to our next spot (Zion to Bryce).

Our coach is a 2020 Ventana 3717 and the slide that is stuck is the passenger side kitchen. This slide has two electric motors. This means I can't pull the wires and connect to another controller because the others are single motor controllers. However, I can hear a clicking noise on the controller board when my wife tries to operate the switch. We've tried to pull the slide in with the coach aired up (our normal routine) as well as on jacks. I've even tried to lean the coach a bit by putting the jacks down on the passenger side. Everything seems to be in alignment from a visual point.

Any experience/advise on how to resolve would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
MHC

Have you tried the system reboot?? Turn off the salesman switch, chasssis switch and breaker at shore power, give it a few minutes and turn them all back on. That type of (reset) has fixed a lot of issues for me so far.

You might also try repeating the connectors on the controller board. I had a similar problem with my kitchen slide. Reseating the connectors solved the problem.

Sorry for the late reply but the wifi at Rudy’s in Bryce is useless so I’m trying cell.

We were able to get hold of Newmar customer service who quickly got me to talk to an experienced tech who at least got
us on our way. It seems there is a manual override on the dual motor control board. You press the middle of the five micro push buttons on the board to engage manual operation. Then he had me press the two buttons closest to me (toward the three plug in connectors) at the same time. These engage each of the motors in reverse to close the slide. I assume the two buttons on the other side were to extend but didn’t want to try and mess things up. The tech says that we do this operation until we get to a place with field service.

I can’t thank Newmar folks enough as they were so easy to deal with and walked me carefully through everything. The tech even gave me a direct line for whomever comes out to call so that he can walk them through full diagnosis and repair.

We are so glad to have gotten back on our way with no delays or changes to our schedule.

Appreciate the input received so far and hope this message helps someone else in the future.

For future reference. There are 5 buttons on that controller. Middle button is program. Top 2 held together run room one direction. Bottom held together run opposite. If you press the center button 4 lights turn on. It’s in program mode. You could the use the 2 buttons together to move the room. Then hit the center button again. That did not program the controller. Takes more steps. That just allows an emergency movement of the room.

I have a 2021 Newmar Ventana 3709. Would anybody be able to tell me where this control is?? Just for future reference. I'd like to learn from your situations.

I assume yours is in the same place as my 3717: it’s a small (4”x7”) board located on the roof of the bay in front of my outside TV. It’s the second one forward of the rear wheels on the passenger side. There are three sets of wires plugged in on the side closest to you. The middle set are the power wires going out to the motors and the ones in either side appear to be jumpers. There are also two other sets of wires plugged in the rear left and right, respectively. To see the 5 buttons mentioned, you have to get your head into the bay and look up. Mine are gray in color.

I haven’t tried to pull my slide back in since the original issue. We are here in Bryce for a few more days. However, I’m beginning to suspect a bad switch. When ready to leave, I may pull the switch panel out and try to jumper it to check for sure. That way, I can simply order a.new one and install myself.

A quick (albeit late) follow up. I removed the small panel above the driver cabinet that houses the two slide switches. The intent being whether or not I could try to jumper the switch to debug. Well, Newmar seems to have inserted a resister on the switch which made me wary to try anything. So I simply pulled the connectors and re-inserted them to ensure they had a qood connection. Ever since this, the slide goes in and out perfectly!

Hope anyone else with the same issue can resolve as easily without resorting to manual operation or a call to Newmar tech service!

On my 2020 Ventana 4369, the control board for the kitchen slide is not the DSC100 - it is PSC110, which is a different Newmar part number. I searched everywhere for a manual or instructions for the PSC110, and have found nothing.

Interestingly, the board has a sticker on it with the Newmar part number and the KIB part # PSC110, but the printed circuit board actually has DSC100 printed on it.

I'm guessing these are the same board, but different part numbers because they probably have different wiring and use. I've had no need to adjust or attempt to reprogram my kitchen wall slideout, but I'll be the DSC100 instructions work for this board as well.

I have the same on mine also. I was only able to find the DSC100 manual. Not sure what is different.

Programming is the same for both. One is for smaller rooms and the other is for the larger rooms. It’s a difference in the amps the motors get.
