Help slide/slide lock problem
I've run into a problem with my 4043 dsdp. The kitchen slide closed and I could not open. The slide lock was humming. I removed it and found the actuator case had come apart. I also found the magnetic limit switch was hanging and the stop bolt bent. lots of symptoms. I was able to put the actuator back together. I may be able to fix the switch (ears broken off). I noticed the slide is out of alignment one corner is tight (where the lock failed). I noticed the slide hold bolts are loose on the other side. I hope that brings the slide back into alignment. I will find out tomorrow. How do you align the outside gaps if the bolts don't do it? I have my first trip next Saturday, so I'm trying to fix. I saw another post where someone got an actuator from firgelli automation. Any thoughts? I would think actuator and switch from Newmar would be pricey and difficult to get in my timeframe. I think the alignment is the root cause of my problem. Thoughts?

Bill look through this list of controls, click on picture for ordering.
Here is the new slide spec for your coach, has kitchen slide info, found in QT's 1 & 2 and there is some slide lock problem threads.

I think I have the slide lock assembly fixed (when I get a new actuator from firgelli automation). I don't know how to adjust the slide for slide to side alignment. The instructions call for an actuator tube. I can't locate it. This is a kitchen slide. How do to access this tube?

Not sure what you mean about a actuator tube with the slide spec provided for kitchen slide add this information to it for slide adjustment.

The kitchen slide rubs the rear end of the opening where the slide lock that failed was located. I need to adjust the slide to the center of the opening. There are no jack bolts to do that like the the other slides. The mechanism is in the floor. The spec sheet says there is bolts in the "actuating tube." I cannot find them to adjust the slide in the opening. Does anyone know how to adjust the kitchen slide within it's opening?

The kitchen slide adjustments are shown with pictures on how to adjust slide for different problems at the end of that slide spec, there are bolts in cabinets to adjust for which adjustment you need to make.
Maybe you need to take to a Newmar dealer to fix or Newmar is not far from you.

Your problem may well have been caused by alignment problems but the lock design is not very good. The locking of the slide is done by putting the actuator in tension and that puts too much stress on the tiny screws that hold the actuator gear box together. They pull out of the aluminum threads. Even if your slide alignment is good you can have the slide control allowing too much amperage go to the actuator before the control stops telling the actuator to squeeze harder. The proximity switch is another poorly executed design. They fail regularly. Also, the switch is mounted at a severe angle not in alignment with the direction from which the arm "engages" the switch. If the switch and the screw were aligned when parked then the switch would be easy to adjust and the magnetic movement of the switch internals would be square with the "face" of the switch. My 2010 DADP 4320 has most of it's screws bent by the factory to adjust the proximity switch gap because the intended adjustment didn't work. Bad design!
The slide control box is adjustable to reduce the amperage/stress on the actuator.

I agree that the magnetic proximity placement and the screw "flag" leave a lot to be desired. I have a tripped planned for Sat and I know I won't get to an appointment at a dealer before then. I will try calling the factory for the placement of the jack screws for lateral centering of the kitchen slide. There is no reference to the kitchen slide adjustment in the newmar spec sheet. Perhaps the factory can help. I will back down the current limit on the new actuator when I install it. Firgetti replacement is powerful than the original. (340 newtons / 76 pounds compared to 120 pounds for the firgetti replacement.

Got my linear today. Bought on e-bay from auto designs. $43. Actually quieter than original. Slide side to side centering of the kitchen slide will take a saddle adjustment per the factory. This means the couch and a cabinet face needs to be removed. The hard part is supporting the slide to make the adjustment. The factory says this does not happen very often. Guess I'm lucky. Oh well I guess it goes to the dealer.
