Help with Propane Issue
Taking coach out for the first excursion of the season. Tried to get water heater and fridge to run on the propane mode, neither one will light. Valve open, tanks half full. Valve was shut for the winter. Have tried to start the fridge per the instructions. Any guesses as to the issue?
Thanks in advance.

Somewhere in the coach, near the floor, probably centrally located and easy to see, is the LP gas sensor/alarm. Make sure that's turned on a working correctly. I bumped the switch (to 'off') on mine once and couldn't figure out why nothing was working. Apparetly if that alarm is turned off it also turns off the flow of LP. At least it works that way on mine, I don't claim to know if they all work that way or not.

Also, the tanks now have a high flow sensor in them to cut off the flow in case of a leak. If the valve is turned on too fast it can activate the shut off. You need to turn the shut off valve off, then back on very slowly. If you hear a slight "thunk" when opening the valve you activated the high flow shut off and you need to try again.

Completely closing the shut off valve on the propane tank and opening it very slowly... then purging the system, (see: Purging air from propane gas lines), might cure your problem.

Hi tyoneonit,
If all these suggestions fail, consider replacing the regulator. Cheap and easy to replace. Sometimes when not pressurized with propane the regulator can get contaminated.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. LP alarm was on. Shut off valve at tank, turned on slowly. Tried stove, took quite a while but finally lit. Hot water working on gas, will try fridge again in the morning.
Appreciate it!

I found that closing the valve for any period of time requires a line purge using the stove before lighting the refrigerator.
