Help with water pressure 2012 DSDP

We are on the road, and tonight we have lost all city water pressure after taking showers. When we arrived at the campground tonight all was well. I have verified we have good water pressure coming through the hose to the hook up in the water bay. I have replaced the water filter. We do have water pressure in the coach if we run the pump. I can see some water running to the fresh water tank when the selector is turn to tank fill. When the selector is turned off of tank fill we should have good pressure in the coach but we have nothing not even a trickle coming into the coach. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

There is a screen in the city water inlet, washer, should be visible with the hose off. Any chance it's plugged ?

Hi MJFZ,
The only choke points making a difference between pump and city water are the whole coach water filter, inlet filter/check valve and the city/tank valve. Consider:
1. The whole coach water filter is the easiest to check. Take the filter out and replace the plastic canister. See if anything changes.
2. The inlet filter/check valve is a bit more difficult. One needs to reach up behind the plastic panel it is mounted on and dismount the valve. Reconnect it to the hose and see if you can determine it has failed. There is a check valve in this assembly. The check valve keeps water from coming out of the coach when the city water connection is disconnected. Because of the work involved in removing the valve, it may be a good time to replace it. They do wear out. The valve is available at any RV parts store. CAMCO is an after market brand.
3. The city/tank fill valve is the most difficult to check. On some valves there is a set screw on the lever that can be loosened and the lever removed. The goal is to ensure the shaft is making a full 1/4 turn. Vice grips may be needed to ensure the full 1/4 turn is being made. If there is no way to remove the lever, I'm not sure how one would check the valve without removing it.

All this assumes the CG supply, water hose and any other components prior to the coach are working properly.

Just to eliminate as many possibles as you can, remove the filter. While it's open, inspect inside the filter housing for obstructions. Then move to the next piece and keep going down the line.

That's the only way I've found. Inspect and eliminate as I go.

There is a check valve in there as well.

Thank you Skip426, GaryKD, and PDRJohn. Last night at 1:00 am an hour after the DW awoke me with the water dilemma I decided to give up trying to find a solution and went to bed. I decided not to worry about the issue this morning and rather finish the last 300 miles to Hilton Head, SC and then find a fix to the problem. After hooking up here in Hilton Head we now have water pressure in the coach on city water!!! So what happened? All I can think of is the water pressure at the camp ground last night fell below the pressure the fresh water check valve would open. I would get water out of the hose but not enough pressure to get through the water filter ( that I did replace last night) and open a check valve to enter the coach. This lead me to call the campground in Selma, NC we stayed at last night, and asked if they had any issues with their water system and sure enough they where filling their pool without telling the guests. Arghh!!! This week I am going to find a water pressure gauge I can run in line with the reducer so I can monitor the supply and demand side water pressure.

Thanks for the great responses to my initial request for help. I am thankful that the issue was really the water supply and not the coach. I did however, while fumbling around behind the water panel last night pull off the connectors to the demand pump switch-- that should be easy to reconnect once I figure out what wire color goes to what terminal on the switch.

Mike

Thanks for the follow up; good to know that it wasn't your problem before you dug any deeper.

water pressure gauge

This afternoon I stopped by Home Depot and bought this water pressure gauge for less than $12.00. Wish I had it last night.

Glad it was a campground problem. Seems they should have posted a sign to inform everyone. Have fun in Hilton Head.
