Hole burned in awning???

While having a fire a ember poped out of the fire ring and landed on the awning 7' in the air!
I am not sure what the awning material is called but it is a A&E awning.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to properly do a repair on the hole?
I put a small piece of duck tape over it for now. What a bummer as the awning is original awning and is like brand new......

Other than replacing the awning, which is the only right thing to do, put the duct tape on the top. Underneath will just wash away if it rains. Then get the kids to be creative and come up with a nice design on a piece of fabric and glue it on the awning. It will become a conversation piece.

To be honest if it were me I'd just sew around the hole through the duct tape. It's not a big hole and the thread will keep a long tear from starting.

FWIW Awnings can be patched properly if you have the correct material and take the awning off the roller so you can run it through a sewing machine. The problem is that it will probably cost about as much as replacing the awning. Better off with the tape and a good story.

I had a small tear on a seam. I got a patch kit for canvas or jeans at a fabric store (Jo-Ann Fabric) ... found a close match. I put a small patch on upper and lower sides. Sealed edges with a very thin bead of clear silicone. You can see it but it's not $$$. Also, I think Walmart has patch kits in the fabric dept.

I used "Enterna Bond" on the roof this spring, it is amazing stuff !
Just wondering if I applied a patch on the inside and out if it would bind/hold the hole together as it bonds really strong to itself.............and stays flexible.

Eterna Bond tape is a good choice put it on the top side. Another idea is a boat cover patch kit available in many colors. Here is one example Attwood Canvas Boat Cover Repair Kit - Walmart.com

WARNING if you use the the Eterna Bond be sure you put something on the tape on the inside where the tape is showing or you will stick to the awning fabric when rolled in for storage

Hole burned in awning???

Eternabond will seep out the edges and stick on to top side when rolled up. Would not recommend that.
Get a canvas repair kit. Some are iron on some have adhesive.

I would use the iron on patches to put on denim pants knees. I have used on our RV cover and works great and they come in a couple different colors. Should need to take awing down to iron on.

Palehorse.......that hole is not very big. You should not have brought it to our attention, if we ever meet, I'lll see that hole for sure. Do as Tom said, something like a bandaid patch. Now grab a beer and enjoy life.

Patch kit at walmart

Walmart sells a leather/vinyl patch kit that will work. It is located in the automotive section. I t cost about ten bucks, they should also have vinyl or leather that is close to what you need.
