Cable input outlet to coach, Newmar, is in the power bay with a telephone jack beside it.

As I said, not mine. I have only ever had one rig so I don't have much to compare to but the external cable port only seems to connect to the TV in the rear bedroom.

No one did because that is not always the case.

My cable connection is not "in the service bay for shore power".
It's on the street side, (in my water bay).

IMO, "blanket statements", (aka: statements painted with a broad brush), are often not correct for all coaches, and misleading to the OP.

Mel S,

Point well made. My response was based on the fact that I've owned three diesel pushers from three, different manufacturers. Each has place the cable and phone connections in the bay where the show power was placed. So, I'm willing to wager that a greater percentage of mfgs did it that way rather than some other way.

The response was also directed to the original post which stated: "How do I hook it up to our 1999 dutch star dp?? Anybody can help appreciate it." The questioner, at the time of the post, was the owner of a Newmar Dutch Star of the same era in which my Dutch Star was made. Newmar does have standard ways of doing things and only varies in few circumstances or when going across a significant model year change. At least, that is my observation after having driven or investigated several Newmar coaches.

Yes, blanket statements don't work for every situation. As always, your mileage will vary. Perhaps I should state that. However, I felt the response addressed the question adequately and with a relatively high level of accuracy with respect to location of a cable connection.

Sorry
I had no why of knowing that you knew more about the OP's particular coach than you posted in your reply.

A hint on those outside jacks

Patio side: Outside TV
Service Side: Park Cable inlet (normally) or possibly Sat Antenna, Or, in my case both. (Two different jacks)

All depends on which side of the house they are on.

bonsonger please remember this is a Newmar web site. Usually all Newmar responses relate to Newmar products. The OP did say 1999 DSDP.

"allynne"......bnsonger47 is on the correct site, owns a Newmar that is only a couple years newer than then the OP. He was probably the best person to respond.

I have a question. I'm still pretty young and new to RVs. I've been fixing up an older gas Class A Bounder in my spare time. I have a cable receptor in my compartment but to my surprise most campgrounds I've looked at on-line DO NOT offer cable service. I mean, cable came out sometime in the 80s, why they still don't have cable is amazing to me. But of those few campgrounds that do offer cable hookups, do most of them, or any of them, provide a coaxial cable to plug it in or do you have to have one to screw into their receptor?

Tyler,
Bring your own coax cable. I carry several lengths just in case there is a really long run to the "box". Seldom need more than 20' though, since my input is on the left rear of the rig. Also, I have a cheap 7/16" open end wrench handy for snugging up the connections. Not too tight, just a bit better than finger tight will do. Judging from the condition of many cable connections at RV parks, the guests torque the heck out of the fittings.

Thank you, I have ordered a 25' cable. I just wish more campgrounds offered cable. I've decided I won't be getting satellite service because I don't live in the thing and will only be using it for short trips, at least for now.
