Hot sauce?
Winter doldrums...and, the fact that we went out for breakfast this morning...got me to thinking about hot sauce. Now, we've tried many of the "extreme" hot sauces and they leave me cold (pun intended). No flavor; just heat for the sake of heat.
So, folks, looking at the flavor side of things, what hot sauce do you like on your eggs, burgers, etc? We've tried the standards; Tabasco (several varieties), Tapatio, Cholula, etc. They are just OK...the Cholula and Tabasco Chipotle are probable the best of the OKs.
So, what am I missing? Remember, we're looking for flavor, not just Scoville units.

I'm out!
I'm the biggest sissy around when it comes to spicy foods. On a trip through New Mexico, we were craving some southwest/Mexican cuisine and in particular chile relleno's. I got a great chile relleno that still had the seeds at one end....I bit into those seeds and thought I was going to die! I looked like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber trying to cool down my mouth.
I also subscribe to the theory that what goes in hot comes out hot!

I like Endorphin Rush amongst the super hot sauces. It still has really good flavor. Mixes great with everything.

MAN I love this site! Scoville units? NO IDEA what that was:
"The Scoville scale is a measurement of the pungency of chili peppers and other spicy foods, as recorded in Scoville Heat Units based on the concentration of capsaicinoids, among which capsaicin is the predominant component. Wikipedia"
Thanks Tranquil Jim for the edujumacation. Learning tons!

Well aside from Frank's Red Hot in my wing sauce (my undergrad is from SUNY-Buffalo), as a condiment we like Cajun Chef. Really good on fried catfish. Zatarain's will do in a pinch as well. Haven't been impressed with Cholula. Tapatio is ok but not our first choice.
ETA - I think I'll steal the idea and start carrying a bottle of Cajun Chef in my purse ;-)
