The replacement plug does not have the indicator light like our present plug and now wonder if we should try to find the same kind.

Thanks for what seems to be a fairly easy procedure. We bought our replacement at camping world and doesn't have the indicator light! Is there a better one on the market?

I'm not sure you'll find a replacement plug with an indicator light. (LED) I've only seen them on molded plugs. Wiring an LED would add difficult steps into a plug replacement.

Cool Almost ready to make the cut...

Thanks for your patience, folks, now I hope to have one last question. Since I have the molded plug with a light, what do I do with the wire that goes to the light if replacing it with a plug without an indicator light?

All that will 'disappear' when you cut off the molded plug. Your power cord will have 4 conductors in it, just like the plug will require.

Thanks to everyone who posted how-to's on changing out the hot plug! It all worked beautifully and is cool-to-the touch!
Great forum!
