How are people wiring a Sani Con 600s in a Newmar
Hi Folks ,
Just joined , Long time lurker . I’ve gleaned a lot of knowledge & info from
lurking here . This is a Great site .
This is our 1st Motorhome . We have a Newmar 2016 Ventana 4002 . I’ve been
reading all the different threads on the Sani Con & how to hook it up , but I
haven’t been able to find how to route the wires to the batteries .
I looked & could trace back as far as the battery bay but that’s fully enclosed ,
no openings to snake the wires through .
Should I drill & then seal or is there another better way . I’m honestly not
looking forward to drilling .
There is a breaker panel next to the sanitation bay , But I don’t know how I
could tap into it .
Any help would be Greatly Appreciated .
Thank You , SteveLo

Official welcome to the Newmar forum, Steve.
I can assume you have been in this thread with many installations of the system your installing.
Most battery bays I have seen have been wide open for access and using a fish could send it over chassis rails through boxed interior compartment from water bay to battery bay.
The links below in my signature will help with other projects.
Enjoy the coach and safe travels.

Thank You “007”
I’ll check out those links .
In my battery bay it looks like it’s completely blocked in as I can’t see the
chassis frame . But I’ll recheck it as soon as I can , I might have missed an
opening .
Thanks Again , SteveLo

I drilled a small hole for pass thru from the wetbay to the electric cord reel bay. From there, route behind the cord reel where there is a 12volt DC bus and ground wires sufficient for accessing power.

Hi red baron 73 ,
Thank You for responding . I’ll look around the electric cord reel . Just so I
understand is it the panel with all the wires & if it is how do I know which one to tie
Into & How do I tie into it ?
I know this is probably pretty basic stuff. , But I know nothing about electrical
problems . I’m more of a hammer crowbar guy .
Thanks Again , SteveLo

THe area I am talking about has a lot of wires, and frankly could be probllematic for someone that is not *VERY* comfortable with electrical wiring.
My suggestion is to buy a case of your favorite beverage and invite a friend over that is skilled with electrical work, or bite the bullet and have it professionally installed. There are several components in this area including high voltage wires that could be a problem for you if you don't have a lot of experience.
You will need to find a large (20 amp, 10 gauge) power source for the battery power, and use a large ground wire secured to the frame.

Thanks redbaron73 ,
I think that’s the best option if I can’t snake it into the battery bay .
Thanks Guys , SteveLo

redbaron73 That is great advice. The electric cord reel bay is where mine is wired from the factory.

In my RV both the wet bay and the generator bay are near the back of the RV, but on opposite sides. The generator has a heavy incoming wire/cable that is hot all the time. I mounted the hot wire for the sanicon on the post for this incoming wire. Then I ran the sanicon wire below the RV, using wire ties to securely connect it to existing wiring runs that were down there. The wet bay has plenty of holes in it for plumbing, so I just snuck the wire in through one of those holes.
Grounding was easy, just ran a short wire to a nicely grounded pre-existing screw that was nearby.

SteveLo
I bought mine already installed. I found the switch location on the wet bay wall hard to get to with the slide extended. I ADDED a switch to the wet bay door and can easily operate it now. My next move is to wire it to the Mid Bath cabinet along with the electric drain valves I installed and wired to the door.
One item you might want to install is a 30 amp relay and then you don't need a heavy duty switch. On my last coach I burned up a couple 20 amp switches over 8 years.
Plan ahead and think of doing things with the slides out and in the dark.
Happy Modifying your Rig.

This Sat. I’m going to install the 600s & try to snake the wire & wire protector
down the frame & into the battery bay . I’m good all the way down & into the bay
Next to where the batteries are . I’ll look for an opening to get into the battery bay
If not I’ll make one an silicone it up or if it’s easier to get at could I use the
generator battery in the next bay over ?
In the installation Manuel it says to disconnect the batteries , So I turn on battery
disconnect , unplug shore power & then disconnect just the battery I’m going to
hookup to .
Is this correct ?
Thank You , SteveLo

Podivin , My generator is in front f those batteries are under drivers window l
Might go that route if it’s easier to get into .
Essex-Spensive , That’s a Great idea I wasn’t thinking about the slider being
Out . I’ll put the switch on the door also . Again Great idea .
Thanks Guys , SteveLo

You need to put a fuse or breaker at the battery connection to protect the wire from a short also. I used a regular work box and some conduit to fish the wire to the box on the door. Also mounted a basement light on the door for more lights at the hookup area.

Yes , I’ll be using the fuse @ battery connection . I was thinking stick on motion
light on the door .
Is my thinking on battery connection correct ?
Thanks , SteveLo
