We had our DS at Nappanee for 6 weeks fixing numerous problems last October, 56 problems to be exact. While there we were told by the service manager they will not work on any warranty repair that was previously done at a dealership. Would suggest double checking with your Newmar service adviser in case you end up having to go to Nappanee if the dealer doesn't fix the problem correctly. Yes, lots of problems but we still like our DS.

I guess that must be a new policy. We had our Newmar there in September 2019 for an issue the dealer tried six times to fix. The factory couldn't fix it either.

What happens when the factory can't fix it? What was the problem that could not be fixed at the factory?

WOW...seems to be an issue on the higher end models and not the Bay Star...but as an aside the black dash surely doesn't help this issue and others as well... hopefully that will be changing in the upcoming 2021 models...
Compared to what else is out there Newmar in general is still a top notch manufacturer who stands behind their coaches

Newmar poor customer service
I disagree. I am 8 months into my 1 year warranty and the coach (2019 Dutch Star) has been in two different service centers for over 3 months and still major defects not fixed. Worried that my warranty would expire before my new coach defects could be fixed I asked Newmar to extend my warranty and was flat out denied. They know they are putting out an inferior product and do not want to be held financially liable to fix the problems. Buyer Beware.

Not surprised NEWMAR would not "extend your warranty". However, as long as the defects are reported and acknowledged prior to expiration of the warranty, they should fix them; even if the work must be scheduled/accomplished after the warranty expiration date.

While not wanting to get attacked like others, our ‘18 King Aire has been the biggest disappointment of a purchase I have ever had.
I tried to chalk it up to our first coach and our expectations not being set, but after 2 years of ownership, the countless issues including breaking down on our way home from FPU, I believe that Newmar has stretched their capabilities too thin. There engineering is appalling to start out with and their builders who are trying to produce a Bay Star and a King Aire back to back on the production line, doesn’t work. Before I get chastised about the Bay Star comment, the hands that are doing the work are the same, there is just a lot more in a KG and the time doesn’t allow it to be done to the level it deserves.
Even after the coach spent 4 months back at the factory and then to Spartan for rework, new items that didn’t exist before have exposed themselves.
Through all of this, Newmar CS has not offered an apology or any sympathy for our troubles. I feel they are brain washed into not accepting any liability that could be used against the company. Our CS Rep has even told me, there was nothing he can do to help us when we got stranded one time. I had to call around to find a mobile tech to spend 2 hours scouring the coach to find a loose ground lug that was painted red at inspection even its loose state!
I can’t stand Newmar, or anything they touch. So where does that leave me. I spent 5 years researching brands to realize Newmar was the best bang for the buck, even at $1M. My only option is to take a bath on the paid off King Aire and get a loan for another $1.5M +and buy a Newell? Seems like there’s a lot of room for improvement here.
P.S. Michelle Howard is exempt from my feelings, she was great.

Totally agree with you. Newmar is horrible and they don’t stand behind their product. Owned a new 2010 Class A Gas Canyon Star exactly one year. In the shop 186 days. On the road 21 days. Massive electrical issues and they didn’t seem to care. Had it repaired finally under warranty and certified by an independent RV technician then traded for Tiffin Phaeton. I have had some minor issues with the Phaeton but Tiffin CS has been OUTSTANDING!

I’m not attempting to jump on and bash Newmar as I have never owned one. I have researched for our next coach for some time and most recently was able to compare a King Air to a Realm side by side at a Winter show nearby. The Realm directly competes with the King Air in pricing. The fact is that there is not a comparison in quality, finish, and attention to detail. When comparing them it is clearly obvious the difference between a production line, get it out the door unit and the quality that the low production attention to detail company makes. The difference is significant for the same money. Sorry but I will never buy a Newmar and would buy a used Realm or IH-45 over a new Newmar product.
