How to replace screen door sliding plexiglass panel?

On the 2018 New Aires (probably others also) there is a sliding plexiglass panel to provide access to the door handle from the inside or close the opening when the screen door only is used.

As delivered there was only a knob on the inside. It was a PITA to slide open the panel from the outside when closed. So, I installed a small knob on the outside. However, I tightened it too much and the plastic cracked around the hole for the knobs. As a stop-gap measure, I put some clear packing tape covering both sides.

For the life of me, I can't see a way to remove the panel so I can replace it. It seems to be captive in the slot with no pieces to easily remove that will provide access. Has anyone else been faced with having to replace one of these panels? Thanks.

Very easy to remove. Here is a link to the video page at PTL Engineering. BTW, I replaced ours with the version used on the 2019 models which allows you to release the screen door latch without sliding the window open. It can be ordered from PTL.

Thanks Ken...wow, easy when you know how!

Do you happen to know the reference number for the part or assembly you ordered? Did you order directly from PTL?

Thanks again.

I bought from Newmar parts dept while I was there for warranty repairs. Cheaper to buy from PTL direct. I don't know the part number. I'll look at my invoice when I get home tonight. It likely just has the Newmar part number though.

I do not see the link. My buddy has a 2017 Ventana and needs to replace his Plexiglas also

Here is the link to PTL. I could not find replacement panels for the screen door. I would call them, if Newmar does not have the part. They are great to work with.

I called PTL about getting one of the new panels (like the 2019s have) and they were very nice...but quoted $62 for the sliding panel and new mechanism.

Does anyone have a picture from their RV with this new knob where you don’t have to open the sliding pane?
